Spring semester ’09 I was the DP (or Director of Photography) for my good friend Justin Nijm. We were both in Production I together (taught by the stellar Miguel Silveira) and when it came time to do our final projects Justin insisted (begged, really) that I do the camera work on his short film. Unable to resist the opportunity, I said yes. Which was probably the best thing I could have done at that point because those three days we spent working our asses off to make this movie  were easily some of the most rewarding days of my life. Justin has consistently wonderful ideas and I’m honored that he enjoys working with me as much as I enjoy working with him.

Our efforts payed off in the end after Justin submitted our film, ‘Ash’, to the Take One Film Fest at Columbia College. It ended up winning the Grand Jury Prize, which made me all warm and fuzzy inside. So without further ado I present to you that very film (until I can figure out how to embed it permanently, the link to my facebook will have to do):

Even though the semester doesn’t start up again until Jan 25th, I wanted to post this as a reminder of why I’m here in the first place, of how I felt when we made it. It can only get better from here.
